what a day…what a day. I will say. hands down…that lindsay + matt’s december elopement was one i will never forget. their first look took place on a secluded dirt road overlooking the great basin + the sierra nevada mountain range. it was the very spot where matt proposed. he waited. the wind howled. lindsay stepped out of her car and walked to him as his back was turned. he took a deep breath. when he turned around…there she was. breathtakingly gorgeous. her vintage gown and veil blew in the wind. they hugged. there were laughs and tears and more hugging. i snapped photos from a distance as to not disturb their special moment. i couldn’t help but be completely and utterly thrilled. it is not every day that you see love…this kind of love.

we hopped in the car and headed for virginia city. we stopped at an old graveyard and broke out a bottle of champagne to celebrate. carrie, lindsay’s lifelong best friend, popped open the bottle and we all gave a cheers to the soon-to-be-mr.-and-mrs.-knowlton. matt + lindsay braved the cold and took a walk with me up to a couple of historic sites. i took a few pictures as they kept each other warm.

wedding time. at the virgina city courthouse, we met matt + lindsay’s immediate family. the first look between lindsay and her dad was heart wrenching. he was so happy. and proud. it was a moment no one will forget. matt’s mom pinned on his boutonnière as tears of joy streamed down her face. the family made their way into the courtroom. the couple recited their vows, exchanged rings…and sealed the deal with a kiss.

we moseyed down the street and stopped at the corner bar. it was decked out with a tremendous amount of kitschy items and christmas decor. the newlyweds toasted their marriage as they warmed up by a fire. they headed towards reno to enjoy an intimate catered dinner. four courses of the most delicious food, all the wine one could drink, and toasts galore followed.

needless to say…the day was perfect. it was about lindsay + matt. their love. and their new journey. to document this special day meant the world to me.
